Anya Taylor-Joy Channeled Emma In This Two-Piece Version Of The Nap Dress

This weekend, while out celebrating her 25th birthday in New York City, Emma star Anya Taylor-Joy channeled her on-screen persona by donning a puff-sleeved, ruffled two-piece set from Hill House Home, aka the brand behind the viral Nap dress. To accompany the look, the Golden Globe winner wore two braids, gold jewelry, and a scrunchie on her wrist (as an accessory, rather than your standard-issue hair tie, naturally).

As any Janeite (Jane Austen devotee) will tell you, Taylor-Joy’s look is a modern-day take on the whimsical styling featured in the 2020 film adaptation of Austen’s beloved novel Emma. Crafted by Alexandra Byrne, the costumes in the film were feminine, joyful, and featured delicate bejeweling, subtle details, and lots (and lots) of ruffles — all things that were similarly present in Taylor-Joy’s birthday ‘fit. Coincidence? We’d like to think not.

Her set, which is essentially a Nap dress but in co-ord form, is navy blue and made up of a ruched bodice top and comfy drawstring pants. Aptly called the Jewel Jammie due to its double-reinforced gemstone appliques and pajama-like qualities, Taylor-Joy’s birthday ensemble is not only Emma– and cottagecore-approved, but also still available in every size, ranging from XS to 2X, for $125.

Kate Middleton’s Jewelry At Prince Philip’s Funeral Honored The Queen & Princess Diana

On Saturday, the Royal Family came together at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle for the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, who died on April 9. For the service, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wore a Roland Mouret coat dress with bow detailing on the front and an asymmetric hem and a Philip Treacy fascinator. Her jewelry included a pair of diamond-and-pearl drop earrings and a pearl necklace, both of which came from Queen Elizabeth II’s private collection. The duo is significant for more than just its tribute to Her Majesty, though. Both were previously worn by Middleton’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana

The four-row pearl-diamond choker was designed by Garrard and made with pearls that were gifted to the Queen by the Japanese government in the 1970s, according to The Court Jeweller. In 1982, shortly after Diana’s wedding to Prince Charles, the Queen loaned the necklace to her new daughter-in-law, who wore it to a state visit with Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands at Hampton Court Palace in London. Like Middleton, she paired the choker with the diamond-pearl earrings, which were made using pearls that were a wedding gift from the Hakim of Bahrain to the Queen in 1947.

WINDSOR, ENGLAND – APRIL 17: Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge during the funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle on April 17, 2021 in Windsor, England. Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark was born 10 June 1921, in Greece. He served in the British Royal Navy and fought in WWII. He married the then Princess Elizabeth on 20 November 1947 and was created Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, and Baron Greenwich by King VI. He served as Prince Consort to Queen Elizabeth II until his death on April 9 2021, months short of his 100th birthday. His funeral takes place today at Windsor Castle with only 30 guests invited due to Coronavirus pandemic restrictions. (Photo by Chris Jackson/WPA Pool/Getty Images)

Though especially noteworthy now, Middleton has worn both the choker and the earrings before. She appeared in the earrings on Remembrance Day in 2016, before re-wearing them a year later at Royal Ascot, which she attended with Prince William and the Queen. In 2017, Her Majesty loaned the Duchess of Cambridge her pearl choker to wear to her 60th wedding anniversary celebration. It’s touching that both were on display on Saturday.

A Case For Over-The-Top Dressing: 3 Loud Looks We Can’t Wait To Wear This Spring

Like a TikTok transition, the spring equinox makes us want to immediately go from a somber (and sweatpant-y) fashion mood to — jump cut — full-on peacocking. That's why, when appointing this season's most joyful trend, we're not pinpointing any one hue or trouser cut, but instead, declaring it an in-your-face style free-for-all.

It's all about leaning into highly saturated tones, silhouettes that fall on either end of the streamlined-to-voluminous spectrum, and an overall attitude of "the louder the better." To see this philosophy in action, we've partnered with Macy’s to present a few bold and bright outfit ideas, seen here on content creator Candace Hampton. See-through hot pink with acid yellow hibiscus print? Fuchsia braided leather and cobalt? See all that — and much, much more — ahead.
Throw everything you thought you knew about "statement pieces" and "focal points" out the window — for SS21, we're putting together looks so complex, your eye won't know where to stop. Here, an element of sheerness, a whimsical pattern, and goes-with-everything cutoffs keep the overall vibe vibrant but light.

Calvin Klein Organza Button-Front Shirt, $, available at Macy's

Levi's Mid-Length Shorts, $, available at Macy's

Tommy Hilfiger Kimey Ankle Tie Espadrilles, $, available at Macy's
We spy a going-out top (remember those?). While a black top and jeans might not seem like the most obvious example of this OTT trend, a notched, off-the-shoulder neckline provides a literal frame for your face. And what could be more look-at-me than that?

Mango V-Squared Neckline Bodysuit, $, available at Macy's

Mango Regina Slouchy Jeans, $, available at Macy's

STEVEN NEW YORK Enida Slide Sandals, $, available at Macy's
Matching your puff-sleeve top to your hair? A major flex. Add a pair of hot pink braided mules, and you've got a color combo that's just climbed to the top of our "Outfit Ideas" list.

Target’s Latest Collab Features Christopher John Rogers & RIXO — & Is Under-$60

Just under a year after debuting Target’s Designer Dress Collection, a 70-piece collaborative line of sundresses by Cushnie, Lisa Marie Fernandez, and LoveShackFancy, the retailer announced the sophomore lineup — and it doesn’t disappoint. Target tapped fashion’s buzziest brands Christopher John Rogers, RIXO, and ALEXIS.

For the collection, each of the designers was tasked with creating a collection of summer dresses in their signature styles — think: art-inspired silhouettes from CJR, bold prints by RIXO, and vacation-ready pieces by ALEXIS — that would fit amongst Target’s lineup of affordable and wearable dresses. Each succeeded with flying colors (literally, it’s like a color bomb went off in aisle seven), taking big sleeves, ruffles, and asymmetric details off the runway and into your neighborhood Target, where every piece is available in sizes XXS to 4X — making it the brand’s most size-inclusive designer collaboration to date — and costs less than $60.

Sound too good to be true? Apparently, the designers think so, too. ALEXIS’ Alexis Barbara Isaias called the opportunity to create a line of dresses for Target’s massive audience “a dream come true,” as did Rogers, who said that his goal for the collection was to help wearers “across the country feel their most authentic” and “self-expressive.” The CFDA-winning designer also expressed the thrill over being included in the long list of designers who’ve partnered with Target in the past, including Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler, Jean Paul Gaultier, Prabal Gurung, Rodarte, and more: “I’m excited to be a part of that legacy.”

“For more than 20 years, Target has partnered with some of the biggest names in the industry, and had the opportunity to introduce our guests to emerging designers who are shaping fashion and culture today,” said Jill Sando, Target’s EVP and CMO. “With this collection, we’re celebrating three incredibly talented and diverse designers, all while creating our most size-inclusive collection of original, quality dresses.”

Target’s second Designer Dress Collection will be sold at Target.com and in select Target stores starting later this spring. Until then, we’ll be busy planning out which dresses we’re going to buy (hint: it’s all of them).
