The Best Brands & Companies Showing Pride This Month

The last few years of Pride have been marked by everything from the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots to the Black Lives Matter movement and social distance amidst a global pandemic. Each was a significant moment that served to highlight the importance of support, love, and togetherness — whether or not a physical celebration in honor of these things was able to take place. One easy way to spread all that love around, then and now, is by making purchases that honor, advocate for, and benefit the LGBTQ+ community.

With many brands and companies getting in on the Pride Month celebrations with dedicated collections, you can shop a wide offering of stylish goods that also serve to support organizations that fight for LGBTQ+ rights. Some, like Vans and Levi's, are designing Pride-themed collections in honor of June's arrival. Ahead, check out our A to Z shopping guide to the best brands and companies showing support this Pride month.

Megan Thee Stallion Gave The Tarzan Bikini Trend Her Stamp Of Approval

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MARCH 09: Recording artist Megan Thee Stallion attends the TIDAL X Megan Thee Stallion “Ain’t Shit Sweet” Hottie Party at Public Arts on March 09, 2020 in New York City. (Photo by Johnny Nunez/WireImage)

It’s about to be another hot girl summer. And Megan Thee Stallion is celebrating by wearing one of 2021’s biggest fashion trends: the Tarzan bikini, a skimpy ’80s-style swimwear bottom, also known as a “curtain string bikini.”

On Monday, the “Savage” singer took to Instagram to share some snaps of herself savoring the hot weather. In them, she wore a cobalt blue Tarzan bikini bottom with a matching wrapped top. The Houston-born rapper’s two-piece is from Seven Swim, a luxury swimwear brand known for its curve-hugging bathing suits that feel like “second skin.”

Tarzan bikini bottoms are the TikTok-influenced swimwear trend of the summer, ensuring a post-vaccination vacation season filled with skimpy styles after more than a year in sweats. Though the style may seem revealing, it’s surprisingly comfortable, thanks to its adjustable straps and curtain-like front that allows you to choose how much skin to show.

Unfortunately, Megan’s bikini set is currently sold out and won’t be restocked in the coming months, according to the brand. But you can shop a similar style from Seven Swim below.

Do Upside-Down Bikinis Actually Work?

This Savage x Fenty Model Is An Expert In Styling String Bikinis On & Off The Beach

Everyone has that one go-to — a single item in their wardrobe that they style better than anyone else. For Instagram personality and Savage X Fenty model Ireanna Bradshaw, that signature piece is a string bikini

If you don’t follow Bradshaw for her uplifting wisdom about loving your body and dressing to show it off — a few of her most recent captions: “Daily reminder that you are a hot girl no matter what size,” “Baby, I am the main character,” and, “To my body, I just want to say thank you” — then you should watch her feed for her swimsuit content, which is above what you’ll find on anyone else’s grid. Yes, there is the occasional sweatshirt or wedding dress (congratulations to the newlywed!), but her uniform is none other than the bikini, worn crisscrossed and upside-down, and often paired with matching sarongs and skimpy bottoms from her favorite swimsuit brands, which include We Are We Wear and Swimsuits For All (“especially the Gabi Fresh collection,” she says). “String bikinis have become my new favorite summer item,” she tells Refinery29. And it’s not waterside attire. She wears them at home, or as a replacement crop top for any occasion — often with mom jeans or flare jeans. “Another way I style [string bikini tops] is by dressing up like a Bratz doll, so with a mini skirt, a cute jacket, and chunky heel,” she says.

Though the North Carolina resident appears to be a string bikini pro on the platform — as well as on TikTok, where she has over 33,000 followers and counting — it wasn’t until the end of lockdown that she began incorporating skimpy swimwear into her wardrobe — and her social media feeds. “Being stuck inside all year gave me a lot of time to reflect,” she says. “I started to appreciate my body more than I ever have. In that appreciation, I realized that I could wear whatever I wanted.” At the beginning of lockdown, she says that she started purchasing things that she liked, but would be otherwise afraid to wear out. “I had that voice in my head that told me I was too big to wear things like that,” says Bradshaw. But the longer she spent with herself, the easier it became to feel confident in her appearance. “I started taking pictures in the clothes and posting them to my Instagram, and I got so much love from the community that it gave me more assurance that maybe I could wear them in public.” Her posts even caught the eye of Missy Elliott on Twitter, who offered to pay for the wedding dress that Bradshaw coveted but couldn’t quite afford.

Now that the wedding is behind her and temperatures are rising, it’s bikinis for Bradshaw practically all of the time. “I’m not sure what clicked in my head, but in April, I wore my first backless top out in public, and it was liberating,” says Bradshaw. “I think if I didn't have the time to sit with myself and really love on myself, then I would have never found this new level of confidence.” That is, a level of confidence that allows her to pose in string bikinis, as well as lingerie, and sometimes nothing at all, for her 44,000 Instagram followers.

Given that summer is officially here, and with it, swimsuit season, we could all take a cue or two from Bradshaw, whose string bikini content alone will make you ditch full-coverage swimwear for good.

Ahead, see how Bradshaw is styling her string bikini collection for summer.
Why wait for a beach trip to wear your new velvet bikini-mini skirt set when you can simply wear it at home?
An easy way to get more use out of your bikinis is to tie them in new, interesting ways. See: this crisscross method.
Just add mom jeans and pearls for a pool-to-night-out look.
The only thing better than a string bikini is a string bikini with Tarzan-style bottoms.
Of course, Bradshaw had to try out the upside-down bikini trend.
It's all about bright colors and minimal coverage this summer.

Halston Launched A Capsule Collection Inspired By The Netflix Show

The ‘70s are back in full swing this fashion season, no thanks to Halston. The American brand is launching a 10-piece capsule collection inspired by the costumes in the Netflix series about the designer — and it’s available for pre-order now.

“Roy Halston Frowick single-handedly created luxury American fashion,” said Halston CEO, Robert Rodriguez in a press release. “It was exciting to recreate the iconic Halston archive dresses that appear in the Netflix series and reinterpret them for modern day.”

The collection is filled with dresses and caftans, embodying the understated elegance that defined the fashion house in its heyday. The pieces in the collection are all named after the “Halstonettes,” an entourage of models, actresses, and socialites (which included Pat Cleveland and Beverly Johnson), that both inspired and worked with the late designer.

Some of the items in the collection include the “Elsa,” which pays homage to the late jewelry designer and Halston’s collaborator Elsa Peretti; the “Liza,” a gold pleated caftan referencing singer-actress and Halston’s friend Liza Minelli; and the “Anjelica,” a ruched one-shoulder dress that honors actress Anjelica Houston.

The five-episode limited series follows Roy Halston’s (played by Ewan McGregor) rise and fall, from his days as a milliner for Bergdorf Goodman to his participation in the Battle of Versailles fashion show in 1973 to his final bow while designing costumes for Martha Graham’s dance company.

Starting at $995, Halston’s capsule collection is available for pre-order on Halston.com and will be sold at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue stores in August.

The First Kanye West Yeezy Gap Release Is Here

Almost exactly one year after Gap announced that it would be collaborating with Kanye West’s fashion brand Yeezy, the first release has arrived. On Tuesday, on West’s birthday, the rapper-designer surprised the fashion world with a single item from the collaboration — a unisex, cobalt blue puffer jacket made of recycled nylon — that shoppers were able to pre-order for arrival in the fall. (That is, if they could get out of the waiting room; more on that below.) The Round Jacket, which was available on Gap’s website for U.S. customers only, was listed for $200 before it sold out.

According to a press release, the launch coincides with a number of in-person “exhibitions” in New York, Los Angeles, and West’s hometown of Chicago. At four separate locations in each of the three cities — including the New Museum in New York City, the Grammy Museum in L.A., and a Walgreens located at 1601 N Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood — onlookers can spot floating projections of the jacket. The remaining nine locations include 7 2nd Avenue, 142 Spring Street, and 184 Wythe Avenue in New York; Grand Central Market, Vine Street at the Walk of Fame, and 8340 Sunset Boulevard in L.A.; and 1453 N Milwaukee Avenue, 2053 Division Street, and 2113 N Sangamon Street in Chicago.

If the bright blue puffer looks familiar, there’s a good reason. Just last week West was spotted in Los Angeles wearing the style. Photos of West in the jacket immediately sparked rumors that the item was from the Yeezy Gap line. “You think it’s a part of a rollout, or just Ye being Ye?” wrote @JahTalksMusic on Twitter. Another user, @kotafn, replied: “Rollout I’m almost certain.”

Now we know the rumors were true. Early shoppers were able to access the pre-order on Gap.com/Yeezy, where they were prompted to fill out their top, bottom, and shoe size, as well as their contact info, before being placed in a waiting room. There, they waited for a shopping slot to open up.

If you weren’t quick enough to get your hands on the Round Jacket this time, don’t fret. Given the other size questions, we’re assuming another release is coming soon.
