The Brand Making Kylie Jenner-Approved Cargo Pants For Under $100

Once upon a time, siblings Jade and Grant Goulden, co-founders of the celeb-favorite label Jaded London, were just kids roaming around small shops during their summer vacations. “From a young age, we were constantly surrounded by fashion, so the expression of style is in our blood,” Grant tells Refinery29. “Some of the designs that you see today are the result of the trends that we grew up on.”

Fast forward to 2022, and the Goulden siblings run one of the biggest Y2K nostalgia labels in fashion, worn by the likes of Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Rita Ora and Rihanna. The brand, which was founded a decade ago, is mostly known for its $90 parachute pants that hone in on today’s fascination for baggy shapes and cargo silhouettes, as well as newspaper-printed mini dresses, retro-inspired playsuits, strapless corset tops, and denim micro mini skirts. During our conversation, the sibling duo cite the Spice Girls, Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan as reference points for their designs. “We wore all these trends when we were younger,” says Jade. “I keep saying I wish I kept my whole wardrobe.”

With today’s it-girls also counting these names as inspiration, it’s no wonder they’re all endorsing Jaded London for their street style credentials. So much so, that global shopping platform Lyst named the brand’s parachute pants as one of the biggest products of 2022, with searches on the platform up 63% the past few months. Back in August, Hailey Bieber was spotted wearing a pair of the signature pants in khaki, paired with a black baby tee, while Kaia Gerber was seen sporting the same pair with a white tank top and adidas Samba sneakers. In June, Kylie Jenner took to her Instagram Stories, pairing a cream version with a white tank top and black Balenciaga Le Cagole bag. The pants have gathered so much attention that the sibling duo have also ventured into other forms of cargo silhouettes, including mini and maxi skirts, as well as shorts.

What’s more is that even as the brand’s recognition skyrockets, the duo has kept its alluring $90 price point intact. “That’s always been kind of our secret sauce,” says Grant. “We are in a unique position in the market, I think that’s been a key to our success.”

That success also counts massive TikTok hype. Searches for the brand have reached over 73 million views, with people sharing their own looks featuring the brand’s cargo pants. According to Grant, the app has allowed the brand to tap into a new demographic. “[Now we have] a slightly younger customer and we’re able to design products that resonate with the TikTok audience,” he says. “The design inspiration is actually coming from TikTok.”

With a decade under their belt and a recent collaboration with New York-based fashion collective VFiles, for now, the siblings are basking in the boom of Y2K nostalgia. “We basically have this one great product that everyone wants,” says Jade Goulden. “People really want to be seen wearing our product.”

Goop & Lacoste Release A Royal Tenenbaums-Inspired Collaboration

If you ever wondered what Gwyneth Paltrow’s Royal Tenenbaums character, Margot Tenenbaum, would wear today, you’re in luck. The actor’s lifestyle brand, Goop, and sports-inspired fashion label Lacoste have partnered for a collection referencing the Wes Anderson film.

On Tuesday, the two announced a collaboration, which includes a range of styles paying tribute to the Lacoste striped polo dress famously worn by Paltrow in the 2001 comedy. The result is a capsule that combines tenniscore and preppy aesthetics. In addition to featuring a frock similar to Paltrow’s film look, the line includes a retro-inspired jumpsuit with puffed sleeves, a knit polo set, and court-ready mini skirts.

More than 20 years after The Royal Tenenbaums debuted, the film’s costume legacy is still intact. Many of the movie’s style choices, from monochrome tracksuits and polo shirts to mini skirts and fluffy coats, are some of 2022’s biggest trends.

Available now, the collection, which retails from $150 to $595, is available online and at select Goop stores and flagship Lacoste locations.

Ashley Park x Rent The Runway Collab Includes A Dress Featured In Emily In Paris

Ahead of the holiday season, a new collection is here to satisfy your party dressing needs, courtesy of Emily in Paris star Ashley Park and Rent The Runway.

The collection marks the first ever fashion collaboration for the actor-singer who has become a style-setter thanks to her portrayal of Mindy Chen, a fashion-forward nanny-turned-singer with a flair for bold colors, loud prints, and over-the-top accessories. And while, at first, the partnership may appear unexpected — it’s not often that celebrities choose to partner with a rental platform over a brand — it makes perfect sense for Park, who was a Rent The Runway customer when she first moved to New York to start her career as an actor and didn’t have access to designer clothing.

“I’ve never shopped at a fancy luxury designer, so knowing that this company makes high-end fashion accessible to people, I was really excited about that,” Park tells Refinery29, adding that she was also drawn to the sustainability of renting versus buying new. “Anything I put out into the world, I need to believe in, so it was an easy yes for me. I know the company, and I genuinely use them and like them.”

The lineup includes eight party-ready silhouettes, ranging from a velvet blazer mini dress to a tuxedo-inspired jumpsuit with a low back, and a strappy sequin dress. “Each of the pieces has its own personality — it’s the centerpiece of its own kind of show,” she says. “I really think there is something for everyone. We thought a lot about what kinds of things make you feel special when you’re going to an event and you want to take up that spotlight.” Which makes it that much less surprising that Park’s Emily in Paris character wears the faux leather midi dress from the collection (top photo) in Season 3 of the Netflix show, which will premiere in December.

While Park describes herself as “adventurous” when it comes to her red carpet fashion — for proof, see the hot pink mini and matching platforms that the actor wore to the Valentino runway show — she says her style is “understated on a daily basis” and mostly made up of versatile pieces she can mix and match while living out of a suitcase during filming.

“I am way more about comfort than Mindy. She marches to the beat of her own drum fashion-wise, she doesn’t like to be confined to a certain style or box…she likes to take a risk and keep people on their toes,” she says. “We definitely have different daily personal styles, but when it comes to taking up space and shining in a moment, I’ve learned a lot from Mindy’s fashion rhetoric.” Park sees holidays as an opportunity for everyone else to do the same.

“I love the holidays because you get to be around your loved ones and there’s a lot of celebrating that happens. But I also feel like holidays are when you can be more adventurous and be more sparkly and glamorous than you would be in the middle of the summer,” she says. “This year especially, things are coming back to life, and so we are all saying yes to everything, and suddenly you have eight holiday engagements, and you’re like, Do I have to buy a new thing for every single one?

Not anymore: Ashley Park x Rent the Runway collection is available now and can be rented, on its own or as part of a monthly subscription, or purchased pre-loved.
