If your mom is anything like our moms, she’s had a lifetime to acquire everything she needs, and she may even be downsizing; nudging you to get those last few boxes out of your childhood bedroom. Or perhaps the mother being gifted is a brand new mom who is still settling into her first season of motherhood. Either way, if you're looking for a special gift this May, we're big “mom” necklace proponents. It’s a small, simple statement of her very important role and relationship, and it won’t take up a lot of space. It’s also available at practically every price point, in styles that will suit every mom, no matter her taste.
For more insight on the appeal of the sentimental necklace style, we turned to Jennifer Meyer, the designer of possibly the most iconic version in recent history: the "mommy" or “mummy” necklace that Meghan Markle was spotted wearing the weekend of her baby shower. “There’s something so special about wearing the word ‘mommy’, ‘mama’, or ‘mom’ on your neck," says Meyer. "It’s a daily reminder of how incredible it is to be a mother, and we get to wear that title proudly.” In addition, she reassured us that she “always cherishes” all the gifts she receives from her children — “it’s always something from the heart.” So we think, no matter which of these necklaces you pick out for mom, she’s going to love the one you get her — because it came from you.

It’s only been a month since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry swapped out their Sussex digs for a house in the Hollywood Hills, but they already look like L.A. locals.
As members of Britain’s royal family, the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex have always been involved with charities. Less standard for the couple was their outfits.
Typically, we expect Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to be dressed to the nines, Markle in Givenchy couture and Harry in his finest military attire. On the rare occasion that we have seen the pair wearing something casual, like for instance, during their two royal tours, first in Australia and New Zealand, and again in South Africa, they’ve both still managed to make it a fashion moment, with Meghan Markle often in designer sundresses and her favorite Castañer espadrilles.
Back in January, the couple was spotted wearing matching beanies, marking the beginning of a shift in style that matched their transition to non-royal life. Now, the two are now trading in their fascinators and crowns for baseball caps; Harry’s, a logo-free vintage design, and Markle’s, a Project Angel Food hat.
Markle was also wearing a long-sleeved black T-shirt, James Perse army green joggers, Stan Smiths, and a construction-style face mask. Prince Harry looked equally as laid-back in a gray T-shirt, faded black khakis, a DIY bandana mask, and chestnut-colored chukka boots. Apparently, Harry, who is usually seen in dress shoes thanks to an upbringing in palaces and prestigious boarding schools, hasn’t yet discovered the magic of sneakers. But while his footwear still errs on the formal side, his (and Markle’s) choice of headwear is anything but royal-approved.
Maybe it’s just that, like us, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry haven’t felt the need to dress up since being quarantined at home, but we can’t help but think that the duo’s newfound casual dress style is a statement, one that’s meant to bid goodbye to royalty, and say hello to normal life.

Isolation sweatsuits have their perks, but if you ask us, the real MVP of the last four weeks spent in self-quarantine is our underwear — specifically, underwear in fun colors and comfortable styles. As luck would have it, one of our favorite inclusive, sustainable, and very of-the-moment lingerie brands has been busy designing just the sort of uplifting undies we’ve been looking for.
This week, Gen-Z lingerie start-up Parade launched its “Dreaming of Summer” collection, a five-piece selection of vibrant neon underwear, which range in style from the brand’s just-launched High Rise Thong to its beloved Boyshort. For the collection, Parade developed new shades in Dayglow (a bright fluorescent peach), Floatie (a neon light pink), Slime (a very on-trend lime green), and Spritz (a bright red-orange). In addition, they’ve included a brand new tri-colored style called the Summer Dream color block which features Dayglow, Floatie, and Spritz, all in one.
“While we don’t have all the answers in this uncertain time, the Dreaming of Summer collection illustrates our relentless optimism and our hope for the future ahead,” says 22-year-old Parade CEO and co-founder Cami Téllez. “At our core, Parade believes in the power of bold and vibrant color to uplift our spirits and spark joy even from the confines of our home.” Between the campaign imagery and the collection itself, there’s no doubt in our minds that this launch will do just that.
For the campaign, Parade teamed up with esteemed fashion photographer Daria Kobayashi Ritch (she just shot Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood star Margaret Qualley for Hunger Magazine… NBD) and models Matisse Andrews, Liana Maria, Ganna Bogdan, and Ryley Ladd to create an escapist lookbook that’s sure to transport any on-lookers to the summer scene of their dreams. Think: Spring Breakers without the chaos, a Palm Springs pool set-up, and really, really good panties.
In addition to the launch, Parade is also promoting its #ParadeTogether campaign which donates $1 for every underwear photo shared — whether it features Parade brand pairs or not — to Feeding America, an organization focused on relieving hunger on the frontlines of COVID-19 in America. “We’re a company that holds community at the center of what we do,” Téllez wrote in a press release. “At a time where the idea of togetherness feels foreign, we feel a call to action to use our voice and enable our community to enact change, no matter where they are.”
“In the five months since we launched, we’ve built a community of hundreds of Parade Friends all across the country, from different walks of life, who have helped to co-create the spirit of Parade with us. Together, Parade has become a collaborative effort to rewrite the American underwear story,” Téllez says.
Once you’ve laid your eyes on the Dreaming of Summer collection, we’re betting big that you’ll want to join the Parade community, too. That is, if you haven’t done so already. Shop the collection below and, perhaps, help those in need by posting your new undies with the hashtag #ParadeTogether.

We love a good pearl sunglass chain or platform loafer just as much as the next trend-obsessed person, but with so many seasonally changing styles comes a lot of waste. Given what we know about fashion’s contributions to climate change — and our current state of the world, in which we’re not sure what season it will be when we start getting dressed again — we can’t help but think that purchasing wardrobe items that are a little more classic might be the best way to go.
Apparently, Scandinavian fashion brand & Other Stories agrees, so much so that they decided to design a capsule collection of classic spring pieces that are not only made from sustainable materials like organic cotton, Tencel Lyocell, and EcoVero, but are also meant to remain en vogue for years to come. "Maybe you’ll style them differently from year to year, but these styles don’t have an expiration date,” says & Other Stories designer Caity Knox.
The 10-piece collection is part of an ongoing sustainability initiative from & Other Stories, as well as the brand’s parent company, H&M Group. “By 2030, all of our materials will be either recycled or sourced in a more sustainable way,” Knox says. “In the future, we will see more of renting, re-selling, and swapping, along with new innovative materials, either recycled or coming from different waste streams,” including VEGEA and Piñatex, two materials introduced via H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection.
As for the pieces themselves, expect joint inspiration from the prairie aesthetic and the laid-back feel of Northeast Los Angeles. In fact, all ten pieces were designed in the brand’s L.A. atelier. Puff-sleeve mini dresses, ultra-feminine blouses, and lightweight, flowing maxi frocks — while particularly trendy right now, all ten items from the capsule collection are guaranteed to remain relevant long past the end-date for “prairie style,” if there is one, that is. According to Knox, “They’re designed to last.”
For & Other Stories, as with most Scandinavian fashion labels, sustainability is of the utmost importance. “It doesn’t matter which project we’re doing,” Knox says. “Our collective mindset is to explore and question the design process along the way to make sure we always go for the most sustainable option possible.” So when the time came to create the summer collection, it was a given that the brand also designed a sustainable component. “We see these garments being worn in nature, in the warm sun, and we wanted to create a capsule that honors the nature that inspired it,” Knox continues.
Shop the 10-piece sustainable capsule collection — priced between $69 and $179 — today at stories.com and by clicking through the slideshow ahead.
