This Gigi Hadid-Approved Leather Jacket Is Our Latest Fall Fashion Obsession

Gigi Hadid has cemented herself as one of the “It girls” when it comes to street style. Her signature is mixing high-end specialty items with basics for effortlessly cool looks. This means that, with a little ingenuity, we, too, can emulate her chic-meets-casual ‘fits with the right statement piece. Take, for example, a fall-ready outfit she recently was spotted in.

Never shy about layering, Gigi loves a good outerwear piece. Just recently, during Paris Fashion Week, the model was seen sporting an off-duty look that caught our interest. In between shows, she strutted the streets in a genuine leather jacket, and it turns out, it comes from Mango. And an even bigger shocker: it’s not sold out yet!

Read on for our guide on achieving Gigi Hadid’s PFW street style yourself (including some budget-friendly options), and find out the other R29 reader-favorite brands like Mansur Gavriel she wore, too.

Mango Oversized Worn-Effect Leather Jacket, $599.99

Okay, we’ll admit right off the bat that this Mango leather jacket is a splurge item. But we were pretty surprised that it comes from an accessible reader-favorite brand rather than an unattainable luxury fashion house, so we just had to share this find with you. The Oversized Worn-Effect Leather Jacket is made from 100% genuine bovine leather, which reflects its $600 price tag.

We’re particularly obsessed with the worn-in texture and lighter, distressed edges and seams that give a vintage feel with some modern flare. The oversized, boxy silhouette likewise offers a cool-girl edge. Wear it over a crop top like Gigi or over a chunky fall sweater as the weather gets colder.

The focal point of Gigi’s street style look was clearly her oversized leather jacket, but she wore more standout items and trends. On the pricier end, Gigi was wearing a Prada shoulder bag and Mansur Gavriel ballet flats, which she’s worn on several occasions. And we more than approve of her taking on the ballet flat trend, along with the maxi skirt trend. A black maxi skirt will serve you all year long and is particularly a great fall staple.

On the less expensive, more casual end, Gigi also paired the jacket with a cropped ribbed tank top and styled her look with a worn-in baseball cap and ‘90s oval sunglasses (we found an Amazon sunglasses replica). These may live in your wardrobe so you’re already a couple steps closer to achieving Gigi Hadid’s street style. But if not, you can shop our under-$50 picks above to create inexpensive yet elevated outfits.

When Harry Met Sally Is Our Fall Style Uniform

When Harry Met Sally is one of the best romantic films of all time, for many reasons. It was the first movie to spark public debate about whether straight men and women can ever be just friends; it was created by the witty and beloved journalist, writer and filmmaker Nora Ephron; there's that Katz diner scene; and Meg Ryan's wardrobe (and Billy Crystal's for that matter) is pitch-perfect — particularly for fall fashion inspiration.

These outfit looks have now become the focus for many TikTok fashionistas, who have dubbed the style #megryanfall. Recreating the actress's best looks on all different body types, the tag now has 9.7 million views, and it shows no signs of slowing down as we head into peak fall.

Featuring cozy knit sweaters, velvet party dresses and geography teacher corduroy blazers, the film's style feels less 1989 and more 2023. Click through to see the pieces we're wearing inspired by (arguably) the best rom-com of all time.

Chocolate Brown Blazers

The Strand Bookstore, New York City, October 2023? Nope, but it may as well be. Sally's chocolate corduroy blazer could be straight outta & Other Stories' fall collection. We're layering ours over a chunky turtleneck knit (more on that later) and donning a pair of statement specs. Shaggy blonde hair optional.

See? So 2023. Sally's waist-cinching belt is faux croc, which has been everywhere for the past year, from sharp ankle boots to trendy handbags. We're enjoying her tucked-in mockneck, but we're also wearing dark brown croc accessories with midi skirts and dresses this season.

Why A White Skirt Is My Fashion Go-To This Fall

Uniqlo's Fall/Winter 2023 Line Is Finally Here

The Best Fashion Items Our Team Tried Last Month

Fall’s Biggest Fashion Trends Include Business-Core Basics & Buckles

While we may still be dreaming of the Barbie-colored, mermaid-inspired, poolside-lounging looks of summer, now that fall is here, we’re quite literally getting back to business as far as our closets (and schedules) are concerned. According to the fall 2023 collections, the best in fashion for the autumnal season includes all things sleek and sophisticated, though not without opportunity for a sparkly twist.

We’re getting started on our fall/winter attire by revisiting the biggest looks from the runways of New York to Paris and beyond. From Valentino betting big on shades of red to an enthusiastic embrace of serious suiting (and ties!) by the likes of Alexander McQueen and Dior, expect ensembles that are both bold and elevated this autumn. And for the shoppers among us who are shooting for the stars, there are looks straight out of the galaxy to help take your cold-weather dressing to new heights. Keep scrolling for a list of the top fall/winter 2023 trends to add to your closet now.

Fall Trend 2023: Business-Core

After a summer of channeling Ariel from The Little Mermaid, get ready for a Shiv Roy kind of a fall (Succession may be over, but its grip on the sartorial zeitgeist is not). Think: polished power suits, blazers over turtlenecks, button-downs, pencil skirts, and business totes. Dior, Alexander McQueen, Valentino and GCDS endorsed ties to complete the business core look, while Saint Laurent, Dries Van Noten, Tods, and Marc Jacobs made a case for pinstripes.

Fall Trend 2023: Celestial Attire

If you’re looking for something a bit more whimsical than officewear, consider celestial attire for a more inspired seasonal wardrobe. From star-shaped embellishments at the newly rebranded (but always dazzling) Rabanne to planet prints and gravity defying-updos at Thom Browne to shimmering fabrics at Giambattista Valli and Gucci, and even bedazzled footwear, it’s all about galaxy glamour this fall.

Fall Trend 2023: Belts & Buckles

The bevy of belts and buckles on the fall/winter 2023 runways are likely derivatives of last season’s enthusiastic embrace of both utilitarian attire and biker fashion. The hardcore hardwear is an edgy upgrade for your shoes and accessories à la Givenchy, Alaïa, and Peter Do, but we’re also seeing these bold details turned into dress straps, fringed hems, and outfit enhancements and enclosures by designers like Monse and Blumarine.

Fall Trend 2023: Off-the-Shoulder Ensembles

There’s something innately romantic about putting on that cozy autumn knitwear as the leaves begin to change color. Add to that a visible hint of skin, and you’ve got yourself a look that’s anything but boring. Everyone from Rejina Pyo and Zimmerman to Victoria Beckham, Ralph Lauren, and Balmain is showing extra love to off-the-shoulder ensembles this fall in the form of floor-grazing frocks, structured tops, and, of course, classic knit sweaters.

Fall Trend 2023: Bright Tights

Add a daring pop of color to your fall/winter wardrobe with a pair of bright tights. There was hosiery in shades of orange and pink at Versace, green and blue at Miu Miu, purples at red at Rochas, and magenta and yellow at Rev. Added bonus: You don’t need a big budget to participate in this big-impact trend.

Fall Trend 2023: Red

Red really is the color of desire this season thanks to a number of standout looks by Valentino. The fashion house that was responsible for making Barbie Pink a thing way before the movie hit screens is now endorsing a new shade for the fall. And if that’s not reason enough to get behind all things love- and cherry-colored, perhaps the fact that industry heavyweights like Jacquemus, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Loewe, and Prada are all on board will do the trick. The list goes on.

Fall Trend 2023: Neutral Layers

It is a simple fact of nature that, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (thanks, Sir Isaac Newton!). The rule applies to fashion, too. In response to the rise of Barbiecore in all its hot-pink glory this past spring and summer, the fall/winter runways were awash with ultra-wearable neutrals: whites and blacks, chocolates and creams, grays and dark greens. A signature of the perennially cool quiet luxury aesthetic, these sleek shades are making us want to max out on minimalism this season, as demonstrated by Marc Jacobs, Alaia, Paul Smith and Hermès.

Fall Trend 2023: Return of the 2010s

Style from the past few years has been largely defined by the Y2K trends that dominated the early 2000s, but we’re noticing a gradual and chronological shift toward fashion from the 2010s in more recent collections. See: trending high-low silhouettes (Versace and Rochas); peplum shapes (Brandon Maxwell and Tove); and ruffled, asymmetrical hemlines (Acne Studios and Coach).

Loewe x On Created This Season’s Most Luxe Gorpcore Sneaker

Planning on spending some time outside to enjoy the crisp air and multicolored leaves — or just taking a walk down the block to your local cafe to grab a PSL — this fall? Do it while wearing sneakers from the new Loewe x On collaboration

Launching October 12, the Spanish luxury fashion house and Swiss performance-wear brand have come together for the second time to debut the Cloudtilt, a lightweight sneaker that is basically what gorpcore dreams are made of. Cloudtilt marks a brand-new style for On, and is crafted with a knitted sock-like fit and an EVA foam sole (meaning: extra cushion for your feet) with cloud-like shapes that adjust to your feet as you move. It’s also On’s first lifestyle sneaker to use its CloudTec Phase, a computer-generated technology that creates the shoe’s midsole and ensures maximum, all-day comfort. On the aesthetics front, the sneaker features Loewe’s signature anagram logo on the tongue and side and comes in eye-catching colors like lime green and purple.

Both brands approached the collab with an eco-friendly mindset, too: The upper mesh on the shoe is made with 99 percent recycled polyester, and all packing is from 100 percent recycled industrial materials.

The Cloudtilt is just the latest fashion-forward addition to the gorpcore trend — which, if you need a refresher, is all about stylish yet utilitarian pieces designed for outdoor use. Miu Miu x New Balance unveiled their own take on a gorpcore-ready sneaker last year, while Blundstone and L.L. Bean teamed up for a Chelsea boot that fits right in with the trend at the end of August.

The Loewe x On Cloudtilt sneaker will be available for $490. It’s pre-launching at loewe.com on October 11, before becoming available to shop elsewhere online and in stores the next day. The women’s shoes will come in white, black, lime green, purple rose, and navy colorways. A second drop with additional shade options is expected in January.
