H&M And Sandra Mansour’s New Collection Will Benefit The Lebanese Red Cross
Less than a month ago, H&M was gearing up to launch another of its signature designer collaborations, this time with Beirut-based womenswear brand Sandra Mansour. Then, on August 4, an explosion in the Lebanese capital left thousands wounded and nearly 200 dead. The collection release was postponed due to the events. Now it’s here and includes a $100,000 donation from the Swedish fashion brand to the Lebanese Red Cross.
The 15-piece H&M x Sandra Mansour collection is available starting Thursday, both in stores and online. According to Mansour, the brand’s CEO and founder, the collection, from the start, was intended to be a message of hope, “something we really need right now,” she said in the press release.
The collection, titled “Fleur du Soleil,” was inspired by female artists, like Toyen, Dorothea Tanning, Lena Leclercq, and Bibi Zogbe, as well as nature. She was especially drawn to the sunflower, which, according to Mansour, “represents the cycle of life, and its dependency on sun and light.” The fabrics, which include dark lace, jacquards, and embroidered organza, were inspired by paintings.
The result includes feminine, yet edgy dresses, tops, and skirts, each with a touch of frill and delicacy, in a natural color scheme of taupe, black, and white. Gold earrings, rings, and headbands are also featured throughout, with pieces starting at just $12.99.
For the campaign, the Fleur du Soleil collection was photographed in a fairytale-like forest setting. “The first things you notice about Mansour’s designs are their dreamy qualities and sheer beauty, but then you get further drawn into the craftsmanship, the storytelling, and the modern youthfulness,” says Maria Ostbom, H&M’s Head of Womenswear Design. “There’s also something empowering about the femininity.”

H&M's New Collection Is Dead-On For Fall 2020
Gloria Steinem Gave Meghan Markle A Bracelet With A Special Message
Earlier this week, Meghan Markle had feminist icon Gloria Steinem over, in her backyard in Montecito, California. During the talk, which was recorded, the two discussed representation, doing what you love, and the importance of young people voting in this election. For the chat, Steinem wore her signature oversized glasses and all-black. Markle, on the hand, looked summery in a white T-shirt, striped Anine Bing trousers, and a big, straw hat courtesy of Janessa Leoné. It was the Duchess’ subtle choice of jewelry — that was gifted to her by Steinem! — that most caught our eye during their chat.
Adorned on Markle’s left wrist was a charm bracelet inscribed with a very meaningful message: “Imagine we are linked, not ranked,” referring to the importance of women not comparing themselves, but, instead, joining together to empower each other. The bracelet retails at $48 via Maiden Nation. In the interview, Steinem says that the phrase, for her, is the “shortest way [she has] ever found to say what [her] goal is.” To this, Markle responded: “It means everything to me on every level. We are linked, not ranked.”
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex and @GloriaSteinem discuss representation, why each vote matters and how all women “are linked, not ranked.” MAKERS has an exclusive look at that historic backyard chat! 🙌 Q&A to come tomorrow! https://t.co/e0WY2hjTju pic.twitter.com/AExOmNdWIb

Unfortunately, both the red and black colorways of the Imagine We Are Linked Not Ranked bracelet are currently sold out. But: A restock is coming!
This is hardly the first time that Markle has worn jewelry with meaning. During a trip to Botswana in 2017, the Duchess of Sussex was photographed wearing the “Hamsa Ring,” a symbol of good luck and health, from Turkish jewelry designer Kismet by Milka. She wore the ring again in 2018 while she was pregnant. Following Archie’s birth, Markle debuted an eternity ring, a symbol of eternal love and circle of life. Her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, also received an eternity ring from Prince William following the birth of their first child, Prince George. Markle has also been known to wear a Mummy necklace in honor of Archie.
Given the important message, it’s only likely that this new bracelet will be another regular in Markle’s jewelry rotation.

H&M Read Our Minds With a New Collection That’s Comfy & Just A Little Bit Dressed Up
At this point in the program — the program being a dramedy titled What Else Could This Year Possibly Throw At Us — you might be feeling the inexplicable urge to get dressed up. This does check out, given that we’ve been deprived of most events that call for disco pants since March, but what if there was a way to revive some of that special-occasion feeling — while maintaining the non-stop comfort from which we might never recover?
To up the ante from “WFH” to “smart-casual WFH,” consider H&M‘s Fall 2020 collection, where you’ll find sweatshirts and house dresses alongside in-season dark florals, some Big Collar Energy, and a not insignificant amount of leather. No, none of the looks ahead involve taffeta ball gowns, but in a time when fleece has become the true fabric of our lives, even a little bit of effort counts for a lot.
Warning: This Peter Pan-collar sweatshirt may induce staring at yourself during video meetings. Your bottom half, though out of frame, is equally attention-grabbing in a leather mini — yes, it’s probably been a minute since you thought to wear one, but a) breathability and b) keep getting fully dressed. That this fit is reminiscent of a certain spooky, midweekly named daughter only comes as a bonus.
And they said denim was dead. Not so when it’s roomy, mom-cut jeans and their Canadian tuxedo other half, accented with a hot pink top and accessories you could definitely invent the next viral dance sequence in.
Here, we’re recalling ’90s grunge, not the other kind one might associate with early-quar unkemptness. Mixed prints in the same color family help keep the ensemble from getting too busy, while a knit beanie adds the coziness we won’t soon give up.
Why yes, that is a leather dress. It might feel like A Bit Much for your living room, but that’s what a self timer is for: documenting a monochromatic Scandi-Gallic hybrid that could’ve walked straight off the Fall 2020 runway. Styling note: Tuck the blouse in so that only the collar protrudes.
