Taylor Swift’s “Willow” Dress Is Wedding-Ready — & Available To Buy
On Thursday, Taylor Swift announced the release of her ninth studio album, as well as a new music video for the track “Willow.” Though, we don’t have a ton of information yet — the album, titled evermore, as well as the accompanying music video, won’t officially drop until midnight EST tonight — we do have some photos. One “Willow” photo still shows Swift wearing a lace gown that, as many pointed out, could double as a wedding dress. And it is getting special attention, not just because many people are speculating that the dress is a hint at the announcement that Swift and boyfriend Joe Alwyn are engaged (or, perhaps, already married), but also because the dress is still, somehow, available to buy.
Designed by luxury Australian brand Zimmermann (a favorite of Katie Holmes), the Charm Star dress is ivory and features a V-neck, lace paneling, and a bow on the left shoulder. According to Matches Fashion, which currently has the Charm Star dress in stock, designers Nicky and Simone Zimmermann were inspired by “lucky charms and fortune telling” for their “ethereal” fall ‘20 collection. (Did Taylor Swift read that description or what?)
Fans of Swift seem convinced that the dress is pointing to an engagement or wedding announcement.“I think Taylor is going to reveal soon she’s engaged (or even married),” tweeted @taylorsfairies. “The dress of the “Willow” MV gives me wedding dress vibes.” Another fan, @tayloredrep13, wrote: “Is @taylorswift13 going to share she’s married? That’s totally a wedding dress look for the “Willow” music video and evermore is like (for) ever more…” As Swift proved with Thursday’s announcement, you can never be sure what the singer is up to. That said, we’ve been trying to hear wedding bells in deafening silence for years now. In 2018, after the release of Lover, many speculated that she was engaged. Similar rumors about the couple swirled, too, when folklore was released.
While the look is still available, it’s not cheap. Currently, the dress retails for $2,650. (It’s for sale at Net-A-Porter, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue, among other retailers.) That said, if the rumors swirling around Twitter are true and Swift is using fashion to hint at a trip down the aisle, then a four-digit price tag isn’t entirely out of the question. According to Brides.com, most wedding dresses cost between $500 and $4,000, with the average being around $1,631. So really, the Charm Star dress is only slightly more expensive than the standard. *Adds to cart for future wedding date.*
Until we get two thumbs up from Swift, herself, we’ll assume that she just liked the dress. Rumor or not, though, wearing a Swift-approved dress on your wedding day will never go out of “Style.”

15 Leather Trench Coats, The Outerwear Trend Beloved By Katie Holmes & Zendaya
Courtesy of Polish designer Magda Butrym, the coat is belted and Bordeaux-colored. With it, the Dawson’s Creek star wore a white, ruffled blouse, black jeans, black ankle boots, and her signature Strathberry two-tone tote bag (which is currently for sale at Nordstrom and Shopbop). Like those who wore the outerwear style before her, Holmes made her trench coat the star of the show, wearing it untied and casually open.
As with most trends, the leather alternative to trench coats — which allow the silhouette to be worn throughout winter, when traditional cotton styles are no longer weather-appropriate — first debuted on the runway. During the fall ‘19 season, Stella McCartney introduced a menswear-esque vegan leather style with broad shoulders and a tapered waist at her London Fashion Week show. Later that season, Fendi included a patent leather trench coat in its collection during Milan Fashion Week, as did Balenciaga in Paris. Six months later, Louis Vuitton debuted a purple, knee-length leather trench coat on the catwalk at its spring ‘20 show. It wasn’t long before celebrities followed suit.
Though other A-listers, including Lily Rose-Depp, Gigi Hadid, and Lady Gaga, have all re-embraced the ‘90s outerwear trend since its return to the fashion month circuit, given how popular Holmes’ street style has been in 2020, we’re betting her stamp of approval will be the one that really counts. (The actress has already made a case for cut-out sweaters, blazers paired with sweatpants, and Canadian tuxedos this year.) Without further ado, shop our favorite leather trenches for the season ahead.

Zara’s New Collection Is Made Of Vintage Pieces, Designed By 4 Rising Designers
On Thursday, Spanish fashion brand Zara announced a partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers in America (CFDA).
Each year, the CFDA, in partnership with Vogue, selects 10 designers who are “a true reflection of American fashion,” according to the CFDA website. In 2019, that list included designers like Victor Barragan of Barragán, Hillary Taymour of Collina Strada, Alejandra Alonso Rojas, Siying Qu and Haoran Li of Private Policy, Reese Cooper (a favorite of Bella Hadid), and Christopher John Rogers (who won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2019 and, in 2020, the award for American Emerging Designer of the Year), among others. This year, four finalists were given a challenge: Create an outfit — one part vintage, one part new — that will go on to be sold at select Zara stores as well online. Now, the results are in.
New York-based brands Barragán, Private Policy, and Abasi Rosborough, as well as Spanish label Alejandra Alonso Rojas, rose to the occasion, designing pieces using their unique style aesthetic with Zara’s offerings in mind. Not only did each designer upcycle a “vintage” piece, pulled from old Zara Join Life collections, but they paired it with a new garment designed using materials approved by Zara’s Join Life standards, the brand’s mark of sustainability.
In total, nine pieces were crafted, including a tie-dye slip dress courtesy of Alejandra Alonso Rojas, an oversized, patchwork linen trench coat by Barragán; a layered bubblegum pink three-piece linen suit by Private Policy; and a bright red patch blazer-and-pants set by Abasi Rosborough. What’s more, each look was photographed by Tyler Mitchell, who was behind Beyoncé’s 2018 Vogue cover shoot.
The nine-piece collection ranges in price from $199 to $329. Shop the collection at select Zara stores and on Zara.com now.

How Selena’s Costume Designer Recreated The Star’s DIY Bras For The Series
Last week, Netflix released Selena: The Series that sees Christian Serratos taking on the role of Selena Quintanilla. While the show follows the late Tejano superstar’s life and career, it also features some memorable Selena fashion, including the stage looks and the embellished bustiers that Selena famously made herself in real life.
But while the intricately designed bras are widely considered a Selena signature, Selena: The Series’ costume designer Adela Cortázar notes that the performer was not the first to wear the style. “It’s undeniable that Selena adopted and immortalized that moment in fashion,” she says. “[Though] we would be lying if we said Selena created that style. That look was a huge trend in the early ‘90s, and it was used all over the place.”
To create the bustiers for the show, in addition to looking at what Selena wore, Cortázar researched fashion of the ‘80s and ‘90s to know what was trending at the time and looked at other A-list celebrities and performers who wore high-waist pants and decorative bustiers on stage and red carpet.
“We found celebrities like Madonna, Jennifer Aniston, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, just to mention a few, wearing this look; as well as fashion designers showcasing it in their runways, such as Gianni Versace, Dolce & Gabbana or Jean Paul Gaultier; and top models like Naomi Campbell or Claudia Schiffer. And just like that you can [then] find the trend in magazine editorials and fashion advertising,” says Cortázar. “What I find the most interesting is that 30 years later, [the look] manages to still be as present as always, I guess thanks to her fans. I’m surprised they like it so much and that it instantly brings Selena to mind over all the other ones mentioned before.”
When recreating the “super feminine and sexy” look for the Netflix series, Cortázar and her team followed Selena’s lead and DIYed the bras that were bought vintage. “To me, [it’s] super important to achieve the real silhouettes of each time period; staying true to the cuts and cup styles of each decade is extremely important to get a good result,” says Cortázar, adding that her rule for period project costumes is that they have to be either vintage or custom-made. “We put ourselves on a real hunt to find the most authentic and vintage bras of that time. We bought the majority of them online from vendors all over the world… We were fortunate enough to find really beautiful vintage pieces.”
After sourcing what Cortázar calls quite a collection of bras from the ‘80s and ‘90s, the costume designer used them as a “base” to recreate the look. “With the bras in hand we took to the task of lining them, embroidering and styling them as each look required,” says Cortázar. “We used all kinds of stones, fringe, fabrics, cups, ribbon, wire, straps, and appliques to achieve what was needed.”
The result was near spot-on recreations that look like they could have come from the archives of Selena, who had her own clothing line and boutiques in the ‘90s. “Selena was a woman of many talents, one of them being a fashion designer at heart,” says Cortázar. “I feel like she turned certain looks and ways of dressing into real trends, creating a very unique style for the outfits she wore on stage, this one being one of her most iconic of all.”
