The Real Difference Between A $29 Cashmere Sweater And A $295 One

There is a specific kind of disappointment reserved for cheap cashmere. You buy an “air-conditioned mall” knit thinking you’ve outsmarted the luxury market. It feels deceptively soft on the hanger, but the moment you wear it out into the world, the illusion shatters. After one afternoon, the silhouette sags, the cuffs stretch out, and an aggressive, fuzzy haze of pilling forms along the underarms almost immediately. By wear number three, it’s just embarrassing.

Which begs an obvious shopping question: What actually justifies the leap from a high-street knit to a $295-plus investment piece? Is it just brand prestige, or is there tangible, physical proof woven into the threads?

To find out, I traveled to Northern Italy with luxury knitwear house Falconeri, tracing the journey of a single garment from raw material to finished product. Visiting their yarn mills in Biella and their facility and HQ in Avio, I watched every stage of production unfold. What I discovered is that true cashmere quality isn’t necessarily built in a flash of genius. It’s layered, step by painstaking step, kinda like a good lasagna. Here is what separates run-of-the-mill knits from pieces built to last for years (and how to make sure your investment stays pristine for years to come).

DashDividers_1_500x100

Long Versus Short Fibers

The quality gap begins long before a single thread is spun into yarn. On the factory floor in Biella, the first thing that hit me was the sheer scale of the raw material: massive pallets of fluffy raw Mongolian goat hair arriving straight from the pastures. Holding that raw undercoat in its bulk form before its undergone any industrial processing is like touching wearable cotton candy, without the stickiness. It’s extraordinarily soft, super light, and extremely delicate.

Even if the source is the same, here’s where the budget brands cut costs: They rely on short, thick, leftover fibers (often the sweepings or coarse outer hairs) to whip together their sweaters. Because short fibers don’t have enough length to anchor securely into a yarn, their raw ends stick out. The moment your arms rub against your sides, those loose ends roll into immediate, stubborn pills.

High-tier houses source long, ultrathin fibers from the goat’s undercoat. Long-staple fibers interlock tightly when twisted, creating a smooth, strong yarn that resists surface friction and retains its softness without disintegrating.

The Factories

Seeing the raw fiber was impressive, but the technical yarn-spinning process was where the engineering clicked for me. Falconeri operates an entire factory dedicated exclusively to turning raw fleece into refined yarn. Inside, every batch of fiber is dyed, conditioned with natural oils, rested for a week to balance moisture, and precisely carded or combed. Optical sensors continuously scan the moving threads, automatically cutting out even micro-imperfections before the strands are twisted together. From there, the yarn travels to a second dedicated facility in Avio, where it is transformed into the actual garments.

This isn’t mass assembly. It is high-precision craftsmanship. I watched skilled seamstresses painstakingly hand-link individual threads to state-of-the-art Japanese knitting machines, ensuring seams lie completely flat and never pull or distort over time. When you watch a single garment pass through dozens of hands, sensors, and quality checks, the cost-per-wear makes total sense.

DashDividers_1_500x100

Year-Round Styling

Because high-quality cashmere is naturally thermoregulating, treating it solely as a “winter sweater” is a missed opportunity. Fine-gauge knits belong in your wardrobe rotation 365, 24/7. I put my ultrafine sweater to the test in the scorching summer of Milan, wearing it with my go-to capris and kitten heels. Tying it around your neck is always a smart option, too. It especially comes in handy when the air conditioner is blasting indoors. For cool fall mornings, I plan on letting a thin white T-shirt peek from underneath the V-neckline and wearing it with everything, from jeans to pencil skirts.

DashDividers_1_500x100

The Cashmere Care

The most shocking insight from my conversations with the craftsmen in Milan came down to laundry care. Like most people, I had spent years assuming cashmere was strictly a “dry clean only” situation (probably because of the nightmare experiences I’ve had in the past with synthetic hybrids). The artisans laughed at that idea because dry cleaning uses harsh chemicals that strip the fiber’s natral oils over time. Their actual directive? Cashmere loves water. You can safely wash your knits in a standard washing machine provided you use a low-tumble, delicate cycle with cold water and gentle detergent. Low friction is the goal.

Next you’ll want to get ahead of pilling and comb your sweater before it starts. The craftsman showed me how running a fine cashmere comb lightly over friction points catches stray strands before they form those dense pills.

Lastly, remember that gravity is the enemy. Heavy hangers stretch the shoulder seams and ruin the necklines on structured knits. So never hang them. Instead, lay them flat to dry or store them folded.

DashDividers_1_500x100

The Investment Pieces

If you’re ready to build a knitwear collection that actually lasts, skip the fast-fashion rack and focus on versatile, long-fiber staples. You aren’t just paying for a label when you upgrade your knitwear. You are paying for a piece of sartorial joy that holds its shape, honors Italian craftsmanship, and gets softer every time it touches water. Skip the $29 sweaters that end up in the donation bin by November, and invest in a knit that will earn its keep for years and years to come.

Windbreaker Shorts Are Having A Moment — These Are The Best

The revival of windbreaker shorts was not on my 2026 bingo card, but alas, they’ve become a pillar of athleisure. First popularized in the ’80s and ’90s, the lightweight, swishy bottoms were known for bold, color-blocked designs reserved for the gym. Still, it wasn’t long before style icons like the Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw pushed the boundaries, wearing the silhouette with kitten heels and a crop top.

A similar reinvention is unfolding now, with It girls putting a fashion-forward spin on the nostalgic briefs, which take their name from their jacket counterpart. Oversized T-shirts, designer handbags, sculpting corsets, and sleek flats are becoming a natural extension of sprinter shorts — and while you’re bound to spot an abundance of hot pants in the park, you'll also start finding them on city streets, in airports, and potentially at a casual happy hour.

It’s all about knowing how to style the retro shell cutoffs. For an undeniably casual look, reach for a simple tee, crew socks, and sneakers. It delivers an unfussy gym-to-street look that may just be the easiest entry point into the trend. If you're aiming for a more elevated aesthetic, contrast is key. Slip into a slinky lace tank and add a structured layer, like an asymmetrical blazer or cinched trench coat. The interplay between sporty nylon and chic tailoring is where the magic happens.

Unexpected footwear is yet another clever style direction. The shorts feel more intentional when paired with minimalist sandals, ballet flats, and pumps. It’s a simple way to upgrade the piece without overthinking the entire look — turning a sporty staple into a fashion-forward moment.

If you’re craving nostalgia and ready to give windbreaker shorts a try, keep reading for 15 elevated picks.

The Under-The-Radar Summer Accessory That Makes Every Outfit Pop

With summer in full swing, it’s only right that we’ve swapped our shoe rotation for sandals, flats, and retro sneakers. With that comes the opportunity to show off a special piece of jewelry: anklets. For many, these are a staple that never went “away,” but it’s still worth calling out that the anklets trending today are not like the ones we grew up with.

Today’s coolest anklets translate the whimsy and love for color we’re seeing across fashion into candy above the feet. They have a touch of fancy, brought forth by bright gems, charms, and layered metals. We’ve noticed them cropping up throughout the fashion world, on runways here and there, but mostly in street style and on celebrities like Rihanna, Hailey Bieber, and Gigi Hadid. Rather than the dainty chains that have traditionally been popular, today’s anklets are bigger and more embellished.

“Anklet stacks are huge right now,” Christin Marie Nichols, founder and CEO of Christin Marie Studio, adds. “Just like bracelets, customizing your anklet stack is a statement of self-expression that speaks to your individuality. What you choose to incorporate, how creative you can get, how many you use, [how you mix] mixed metals and materials… [these are] all factors that I love to see. Anklets are moving from being a minimal aesthetic touch to a bold show of character.”

Nichols’ own celebrity-worn jewelry brand is known for its maximalism, which extends to the brand’s array of anklets boasting sizable and multichromatic gemstones. “The combination of colors I use are made to complement anything you wear and are so eye-catching. It’s almost like organized chaos but pretty. With it being so unique it attracts attention where people normally wouldn’t pay attention,” the founder adds.

Ahead, shop our 11 favorite anklets, including gold options, minimalist picks, and what maximalist dreams are made of. Several options ahead work year-round, and some others are especially good for wearing during the warmer months and on tropical vacations.

Layering anything in fashion, whether we’re talking about clothes or jewelry, isn’t easy to do well. It takes a certain level of finesse and self-knowledge. However, this beachy anklet by Ettika takes away all the hard work of knowing how to stack. This more affordable piece comes with two gold-tone chains: one with ovoid pearls intermixed, and another with a dangling assortment of charms.

Ettika Layered Shell And Pearl Dangle Anklet, $, available at Revolve
Seashell themes have been a dominant jewelry trend this summer, and Frasier Sterling's gold anklet channels that in a vibrant way. A mix of chunky charms — spanning gilded shells, pearlescent discs, and a single rhinestone-dotted star — make this a perfect oceanic statement piece for the summer, whether that's for a breezy brunch with friends or a day spent poolside.

Frasier Sterling Tide Pool Anklet, $, available at For Love & Lemons

One of the most fun parts of wearing an anklet is spicing it up from traditional styles, like taking a classic pearl necklace and relocating it. That’s exactly what Mateo did for its luxurious 'Not Your Mother's' pearl number, which boasts a progression of freshwater pearls strung on a 14-karat yellow gold chain.

Mateo 14k Gold 'Not Your Mother's' Pearl Anklet, $, available at Shopbop

For a more traditional look, Astrid & Miyu’s gold anklet is simply a thread of gold-plated silver. The square-link jewelry piece works just fine as is, whether wearing it solo or layering it in a stack, but it’s also able to hold some cutesy charms.

Astrid & Miyu Essential Box Chain Anklet, $, available at Astrid & Miyu

If you gravitate towards uniformity, then Dean Davidson's anklet — which features spaced-out little blue gems hanging down — is perfect. Built on a gold-colored chain as a base, it is dainty yet durable.

Dean Davidson Orsay Anklet, $, available at Dean Davidson

For someone who’s looking for a more modern gold anklet that balances between a traditional chain with just a touch of something more, Agatha Paris’ seashell-inspired number is just right. Made with a stainless steel base and gold-tone finish, this one comfortably sits above the ankle while the tiny shell charms hover.

Agatha Ankle Chain Cassis, $, available at Agatha

Fashion’s favorite hue seems to have moved away from butter yellow to a minty teal (perhaps a result of Creative Director Matthieu Blazy’s Chanelmania?) This gold anklet captures that perfectly, combining its 18-karat plating with interspersed seafoam beads for just a touch of color.

Gorjana Capri Anklet, $, available at Gorjana

Here’s a perfect anklet for candy lovers. Anni Lu’s take on the jewelry piece looks just like a Smarties bracelet. It combines an array of pearl discs, each a different color, strung together on a gold-plated chain. This one’s perfect for wearing during the summer months, especially with a similarly colorful shoe like jelly sandals.

Anni Lu Holiday Anklet, $, available at Shopbop

Similar to ring and necklace stacking, you can do the exact same thing with anklets. Jenny Bird’s two-tone piece, which features two sinuous and mixed-metal chains, is the perfect base for multi-tonal stacking. (It’d even layer with some pieces on this list.) Plus, the Double Amalfi is water-resistant, which means you can dip into the pool worry-free while wearing it.

Jenny Bird Double Amalfi Anklet, $, available at Jenny Bird

This fancy-looking anklet is a feast for the eyes. Replete with a multi-hued medley of gems, this anklet, available in gold and silver, channels everything we love about how expressive fashion is right now. The best part about Christin Marie Studio’s piece? The jewels are large enough to catch plenty of light and visibly set off soft sparkles around your ankles.

This Travel-Ready Hoodie Is The Best Thing I’ve Bought All Year

I can’t tell you how many social media ads I scroll past on any given day. However, I can tell you that the stars must have aligned (or fine, my algorithm reflected a love of naps, kittens, and other cozy things) to unite me with Comfrt, specifically the brand’s now internet-famous Airplane Mode Travel Hoodie.

When I tell you that a truer match couldn’t be conjured in heaven, I’m barely exaggerating. The moment I saw Comfrt’s hoodie with a built-in eye mask, my thumb and heart both stopped. The next thing I knew, I’d hit “place order” on matching sweatshirts for me and my husband.

That was back in February, and over five months later, the Comfrt Airplane Mode Travel Hoodie is still among my most-worn items in my closet. (In my mind, it’s more than paid for itself in terms of how many times I wear it.) Keep reading for why I’m already calling it one of the smartest purchases of the year, and why it belongs in your closet.

But unique features aside, it’s a really well-made sweatshirt. It’s constructed from a sturdy yet soft cotton-polyester fabric that doesn’t look bulky. I got it in the Steel Grey colorway, which feels neutral but not boring. I usually wear an XS (the size ranges from XS to 3X), and IMO, this has a slightly oversized fit that I love. It’s become the first thing I pack when I’m going on a trip, and when I’m home? I wear it when I need a quick power nap and am asleep within minutes (according to my Oura ring). And if you’re out and about running errands, just tuck the eye mask into the hood or wear the hood as you would normally with any other hoodie. (And in case you’re wondering, yes, Comfrt makes “regular” sweatshirts, along with other athleisure basics, travel bags, and accessories, and randomly, blankets.)

Whenever I post about this hoodie on my own Instagram, a handful of friends always pop up in my DMs to express their delight and/or tell me I inspired their purchase. (“Omg is that eye mask attached to the hoodie?!! I need that,” shared one friend, followed by a screenshot of her subsequent order.) Comfrt’s signature hoodie retails for $140, but is currently on sale for $59 — my advice for tired travelers and sleep enthusiasts everywhere: Don’t miss out on making this very special sweatshirt yours.

The Official Summer Uniform Is Fun Pants & Basic Tops

Forget simple jeans and “going-out tops”. Funky pants and basic tops might just be this summer’s chicest fashion formula.

Sometimes getting dressed is all about finding the right fashion formula. Every season brings a new trend, and this summer, it all comes down to funky pants. All summer, I couldn’t stop thinking about owning a pair of blue, yellow, and white striped pants. I wasn’t looking for a specific brand. I had simply imagined how good they would look with a tank top. That’s when I realized that I might have found this season’s ultimate outfit formula.

The thing about fashion is that it can make you crave something you never knew you wanted. And sometimes, that one unexpected piece ends up reflecting more about your own style than anything already hanging in your closet.

Long before fun pants took over this season, there was sleepwear-inspired dressing. Over time, the pajama pants trend evolved into the colorful, expressive styles that we’re seeing today, in which bold prints, vibrant colors, playful silhouettes, and unexpected textures take center stage. Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection featured blue striped pajama-inspired trousers with embellishmed details, while Versace‘s Spring/Summer 2026 drop embraced bold blue, yellow, and orange striped pants with an ’80s-inspired feeling. And then suddenly, statement pants were not just for the bedroom, the beach, or the runways anymore.

Live, Laugh, Love Fun Pants!

This summer, statement pants are paired with the most understated tops, proving that sometimes one great piece is enough. A tank top, a baby tee, an oversized button-down shirt, or a bodysuit is all you need for styling, as inspired by Millie Bobby Brown, who paired Pamela Anderson’s archival embellished jeans with a fitted white baby tee, or Hailey Bieber, who paired bold polka-dot capris with a black boatneck top.

Celebrity and editorial stylist Lauren Croft told IMAGE that she’s “really drawn to those one-off eccentric pieces that are something different, and wearing that one statement piece that sets the tone for the whole outfit.” That’s exactly the role that fun pants have taken on this season. They will do all of the talking and can be the one unchangeable part of your style equation.

The best part? There are no rules. Animal print, sheer fabrics, embroidery, studs, bold colors, stripes, sequins, balloon silhouettes, barrel legs, or pajama-inspired styles all unite under the fun-pants umbrella. The only requirement is to have fun with them.

During the day, style statement pants with a simple white crew-neck baby tee, flip-flops or ballet flats for coffee dates, lunch in the city, or summer vacations. When the sun goes down, you can switch the tee for a black satin strappy backless blouse, swap your flats for sleek heels or mules, layer on chunky jewelry, and the very same pants are instantly ready for dinner, rooftop drinks, or a summer party. For more styling inspiration, we can channel our inner Zara Larsson with bold-print trousers, a rhinestone bikini top or tied button-down shirt, and nostalgic accessories like statement sunglasses, skinny belts, and metallic kitten heels.

Personally, I’ve been reaching for my Lioness Penny Pants all summer long. The button-front detail running from the waist to the hem gives them (and me) plenty of personality. The simplicity of a basic top and minimalist jewelry let the pants shine. I’m also a fan of trousers long enough to cover my stilettos. They instantly make the silhouette feel sleeker, cooler, and bolder.

So if you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe this summer, start with the pants, especially the funky ones.

Adidas x Asos Is Back & Buidling Our Sporty Transitional-Weather Wardrobe

Amongst all the intriguing brand partnerships fighting for our attention, the new Adidas Originals x Asos collaboration should definitely be on your radar for transitional dressing. Athletic heritage brand Adidas and trend-focused retailer Asos are teaming up for the fourth time on an elevated athleisure collection… and their first-ever menswear capsule.

“The success of the previous collection gave us the confidence to push the partnership further,” said Asos executive vice president Vanessa Spence in a press release. “For this chapter, we focused on a moment we know is important to our customer. The point in the season when they’re making the most of summer while looking ahead to what’s next. […] We’ve created a collection that feels confident, versatile and distinctly Asos.”

This summer has proven that our sporty fashion era is here to stay (from Knicks merch to World Cup soccer jerseys). So this collaboration, modeled by professional boxer Ramla Ali, is on-trend and ready to dress you accordingly for late-summer into the fall.

The womenswear collection, which will exclusively be available on Asos.com, features several matching sets (like ones inspired by the Adidas Firebird Track Suit) in elevated designs. Picture the fashion-forward attitude of Asos marrying the athlete-approved flair of Adidas.

So, what makes these athleisure pieces so special? Well, Adidas’ signature 3-Stripes design has been paired with preppy plaids and stripes (in a mix of neutrals and primary color palettes) along with embroidery detailing and lace finishes (on knit and satin styles). “Power shoulders, dropped waists, and soft structure bring a more directional edge to familiar sportswear shapes,” according to the press release.

Beyond tracksuit separates and windbreakers, the collection also features sporty takes on collared polo tops, funnel-neck jackets, vests, and jumpsuits to fill out your transitional wardrobe. There are also some unexpected silhouettes, like oversized blazers, peplum tops, and mini skirts attached to track pants.

And with the pieces ranging between $45 and $150, you may just want to build a few head-to-toe outfits. So, if you want to make these styles your own for weekend strolls, casual Fridays, sports watch parties, and more, shop the much-anticipated collection on July 30.

No Clock-Ins, No Micromanaging, & 100-Year Sweaters: Inside Brunello Cucinelli’s Anti-Corporate Fashion House

Let’s be honest: when most of us hear “Italian luxury knitwear titan,” our brains don’t immediately leap to labor rights, workplace dignity, or radical empathy. We think of four-figure price tags and pristine neutral palettes that live strictly in the closets of the top 1%.

So while watching the new documentary on Brunello Cucinelli (Brunello: The Gracious Visionary), I wasn’t necessarily expecting a masterclass on how to treat human beings with basic dignity. But that is precisely what makes Cucinelli’s story so fascinating, and why it feels like such an antidote to the fast pace of the fashion industry.

At the core of this film is a concept Cucinelli calls “Humanistic Capitalism.” It sounds like a lofty corporate buzzword until you actually look at how his house operates. In an industry where burnout is often treated like a badge of honor and modern hustle culture demands we grind ourselves into dust, Cucinelli has spent decades proving a radically simple point: You can build a billion-dollar empire without exploiting the people who build it for you.

Before he was the “King of Cashmere,” Cucinelli was just a scrappy young guy trying to break into the market. Founded in the late 1970s and scaling through the ’80s, the brand’s origins carry an ambitious charm. In the early days, he would literally change his voice on phone calls, pretending to be different secretaries and executives to create the illusion that he was running a massive, established enterprise.

As a great philosopher once said, “Delulu is the solulu,” because it worked. During his first showcase, he managed to sell over 11,000 sweaters—in just two days. Manufacturing early demand through sheer audacity paid off and led to him making a legendary American debut at Barneys New York (RIP to the iconic fashion mecca).

Staying true to his values, Cucinelli would tell investors “If you’re after a business that profits at the expense of humanity, this is not the company you should invest in.”

When he launched his brand in 1978, fashion moved at a completely different pace. Fast-fashion, micro-trends, weekly drops, and viral $10 internet hauls weren’t even on the horizon. Garments were bought with care, repaired when worn, and expected to hold their ground over time. But still, Cucinelli wanted to push that ethos to the extreme, asking his mother to help him create a sweater designed to last 100 years.

In an era saturated with cheap, disposable clothing that pills after two washes, the concept of a 100-year garment isn’t just about high-end craftsmanship. It’s an act of anti-capitalist resistance against consumerism. It asks us to re-evaluate our entire relationship with what we buy.

As a Shopping Director, a huge part of my daily life is centered on vetting trends, testing products, and telling you what’s actually worth putting in your cart. But lately, my personal editorial ethos has shifted from simply asking, “What else do we need to buy?” to “How can we buy better, not more?”

It’s an idea that actress Liu Tao echoes in the documentary when reflecting on why Brunello Cucinelli resonates so deeply: “This brand flatters my body’s proportions and gives me confidence. That’s why I love this brand.” True luxury isn’t about hiding your body or constantly chasing the next trend. It’s about proportions, self-worth, and clothes that give back to the wearer for a lifetime.

Where the film truly shifts from a standard fashion profile into a blueprint for corporate reform is inside the company’s factory walls in Solomeo, Italy.

At Cucinelli’s headquarters, workers are given keys to the facilities. There are no rigid clock-ins or draconian micromanagement, just a fundamental trust in the people who craft the product. Beyond that, roughly 20% of company profits are directly funneled back into “beautifying humanity,” from renovating the medieval village of Solomeo to maintaining public parks and community spaces.

The defining moment of this philosophy took place in March 2020. I’m sure we all remember where we were during that time. As global markets froze and uncertainty swept through the entire world, Cucinelli hosted a call with his entire workforce (around 9,000 people across the brand’s ecosystem). His message wasn’t about cutting costs or thinning out payroll. Instead, he made a firm, explicit commitment: For the next two years, he promised zero layoffs, guaranteed full salaries, and pledged that the company would not ask its suppliers for discounts. That’s enough to make anyone ask, “Where do I sign up?” In an era where tech giants and media houses routinely announce mass layoffs via automated emails, Cucinelli’s decision was a stark reminder that executive leadership is, at its core, a moral choice.

The documentary closes with two quiet, visually stunning scenes that are still etched in my mind. The first is an impossibly long family dinner table stretched across an open field in Italy. But the people sitting around it aren’t just Cucinelli’s immediate relatives. It’s his extended work family. A literal visual representation of what happens when a business shares its prosperity instead of hoarding it at the top.

The final image returns to a recurring motif throughout the film: Cucinelli playing cards. As a young man, he spent hours in local Italian bars cutting decks. Throughout the documentary, we see him at the table, but the final scene reveals who sits across from him. He isn’t playing against a rival designer or a corporate competitor. He’s playing against his younger self. It’s a striking metaphor for how Cucinelli operates. From a young boy guiding cows through Umbrian fields—obsessing over making sure the plow lines were perfectly straight—to building one of the most respected fashion houses in history, his focus has never been on beating the competition. It’s always been about self-mastery, controlling what you can control, and striving to be a better version of yourself than you were yesterday. That’s the ultimate main-character energy flex.

The Wedding Guest Dress Trend That’s All Over My Timeline

From Taylor Swift to Dua Lipa, this has been quite a year for weddings. In the midst of all of the lovey-dovey gatherings, I’ve noticed a trend start to emerge: whether at a beachside ceremony or a garden nuptial, the best-dressed guests are adding a touch of attitude to their looks with twirl-worthy fringe.

Sometimes the frilly detail anchors a micro mini, adding just the right amount of coverage for a polished look. Other times, it’s broken up into tiers, creating a mélange of textured ruffles on the hem of a maxi dress. Either way, it’s a go-to for some of the most stylish women in the world. Zendaya made heads turn in a Christian Cowan LBD earlier this summer. On the other side of the color spectrum, Dakota Johnson was seen at the Cannes Film Festival last summer in a bubblegum pink Gucci number.

There are multiple ways to incorporate the trend into your dressier moments. In our Summer 2026 Lookbook photographed by Nigel Barker and Miss J on the Creative vision, model Mercedes Yvette Scelba-Shorte was the best-dressed guest in a silky dress layered with a fringe sash (pictured above). I have even seen some of the biggest street style stars turn a fringe scarf into a belt, arguably one of the most versatile ways to wear the celebrated detail.

And the beautiful fringe looks don’t stop there. Visit any one of your favorite websites and you’ll see that fringe fever is in full effect, from Net-A-Porter’s luxe edit of tasseled designs to Nordstrom’s wide range of options, there’s something for everyone.

Whether you’re looking for a little bit of flounce or head-to-toe tinsel, find the perfect fringe wedding guest dress below.

It’s The Summer Of Chunky Jewelry Maxxing

This summer’s biggest trend, quite literally, is chunky jewelry. Unlike most seasonal trends, this one is not going anywhere anytime soon. Once you fall for chunky jewelry, it quietly becomes part of your personal style, to the point where people can’t imagine you without it.

No one embraced the spirit of chunky jewelry quite like the late, great fashion icon Iris Apfel. Long before oversized bangles and sculptural necklaces took over the fashion world, she built an unforgettable personal style around maximalist jewelry. Her bold accessories became a reflection of her fearless personality, making it almost impossible to picture her without them. And from what we’re seeing now, maybe we’re all channeling our inner Iris Apfel this summer.

Whether it’s a beach day, a city stroll, dinner plans, or a night out, chunky jewelry belongs everywhere. After all, an accessory is the finishing touch that can completely transform any outfit.

Although the chunky jewelry trend can be traced back to the 2010s, fashion has been moving in this direction again over the past few years. Schiaparelli was among the first to bring statement jewelry back into the spotlight in 2023 with its surrealist accessories. And as maximalism gradually made its way from the runway into everyday wardrobes, surrealist jewelry evolved into something far more wearable.

This change became even more visible on the latest runways, with Sarah Burton’s debut Givenchy SS26 collection showcasing oversized necklaces and statement earrings, while Zimmermann’s SS26 collection featured sculptural jewelry alongside its romantic summer aesthetic.

This summer, the bigger the better. Less layering of dainty pieces, and more styling with larger accessories. Sometimes, all it takes is one great find to become the centerpiece of your wardrobe. My go-to summer outfit formula starts with a white tank top, relaxed linen trousers, oversized sunglasses, kitten heel mules, and as much chunky jewelry as I can get. Colorful resin bangles, sculptural earrings, and playful shapes always work together. The only rule I stick to is keeping each jewelry category consistent: silver with silver, resin with resin. Another key element is to let just one jewelry category do the talking.

During the day, style a sheer cape top with denim shorts, flip-flops, and oversized resin bangles for an effortless summer look. For evenings, pair a simple midi summer dress with sculptural gold earrings, chunky gold rings, and strappy heels. For me, everything else in your outfit can change, but a great chunky ring stack can remain your signature finishing touch. The trick is this: chunky rings are the ultimate day-to-night jewelry, and, sometimes, even piece you’ll wear for a lifetime, like Dua Lipa’s chunky engagement ring, which has quickly become one of the most talked-about jewelry pieces of the year.

In the summer, chunky jewelry can take the form of an abstract shape, like fruit, flowers, or seashells. Pair oversized shell earrings with a monochrome matching set for an effortless vacation look, or let a stack of colorful resin bangles elevate a simple white sundress. One of my personal favorites in my jewelry drawer is a pair of oversized cherry earrings, which I happily wear with everything from a white tank and denim shorts to a simple midi dress. Whichever way you choose to style it, chunky jewelry is the perfect trend to express yourself and be as loud as you want, like Apfel proudly did.

And when fall arrives, Valentino’s FW26 collection proves that oversized jewelry also works just as well layered over knitwear and tailored coats. You can also layer thick bracelets over fitted long-sleeve tops and style oversized chokers over turtlenecks. Voilà, you’re ready to take this “summer” trend into the cooler months.

Bikini Tops Are the New Going-Out Top: Here’s How To Style Them

A heatwave? No problem. As temperatures continue to rise, bikini tops are no longer just beachwear; they’ve become a practical and stylish solution for summer style, whether you’re on vacation or in the city. This is the trend we’ve all been waiting for, because your bikini top definitely deserves a chance beyond the pool side this summer.

There’s just something about an outfit that feels slightly unfinished that perfectly captures the carefree spirit of summer and gives me a real sense of freedom. Even when I’m not on holiday, summer itself inspires me to be more creative with the way I dress.

This season, the bikini top has evolved from being that “just in case” item tossed into your vacation suitcase to becoming one of the go-to tops for grabbing a coffee, stopping by the market on the weekend, or heading out for dinner. Thanks especially to Dua Lipa’s summer wardrobe, the line between swimwear and citywear feels more blurred than ever this season.

There are countless ways to style your bikini top, but with the rising temperatures and ever-changing trends, it can be more confusing than ever to know where to start. Need some styling tips? There are a few celebrity-approved ways to wear the trend. From Kylie Jenner’s latest bikini rotation and Gigi Hadid‘s effortless off-duty style to the festival style inspired by Charli XCX’s Brat era, your starting point for making this trend your own is ahead.

Swimwear design is also starting to shift in parallel with this trend. Rather than relying on traditional swimwear prints and beach-inspired aesthetics, recent collections are increasingly drawing inspiration from everyday city life.

For example, in the recent KHY x Frankies Bikinis collaboration, founder Francesca Aiello told WWD that the collection was inspired by her shared love of Los Angeles with Kylie Jenner, hoping that it “felt as unique and sexy as the city itself.” So, rather than looking to the beach as its primary source of inspiration, the collection looks to the city’s aesthetic for a modern approach.

How To Style Bikini Tops

And just like that, this summer’s unofficial “holy trinity” has practically formed itself: a timeless bikini top, comfortable flip-flops you can walk all day in, and a hand fan you’re never willing to put down. Suddenly, getting dressed during a heatwave feels much less complicated. My favorite styling trick is letting colorful bikini details and string straps peek out from under a tiny white tank top and barrel-leg trousers.

Throw a lightweight linen shirt over your shoulders or tie it around your waist, then accessorize with chunky gold earrings, layered necklaces, and a tote bag. Just a few touches make the outfit feel intentional rather than accidental, turning the bikini top into a natural part of your everyday summer wardrobe.

If you’re spending your sunny days in the city rather than on vacation, take inspiration from Dua Lipa’s effortless vacation aesthetic by pairing a black triangle bikini top with relaxed denim shorts, a lightweight oversized jacket, and simple strappy sandals. Boldly colored bikinis with relaxed jeans also simply give an instant cool-girl feel.

For a summer night out, you can swap the shorts for fun pants, adding a metallic bikini top, black sunglasses, and kitten mules. The look is instantly evening-ready, making it a great choice for a club or festival.

My personal favorite is wearing a polka-dot bikini top over a white baby tee with a midi skirt, flip-flops, and a mini handbag. The fun part of this trend is that there are no rules; it’s just an experiment with different silhouettes, colors, prints, and accessories until you find your own style.

I Tried The Viral Nipple Covers All Over My Feed — And I May Never Wear A Bra Again

In an ideal world, I’d never wear a strapless bra again. No hate to them, but with summer finally here, I can’t think of a more unappealing undergarment when it comes to tiny-tank-top-and-strappy sundress season — the marks that it leaves on the hot skin, the constricting material, the underboob sweat marks, the constant slipping… As if my phone was listening to my innermost thoughts (I’m not convinced that it isn’t, for the record), my social feeds started to get flooded with ads for Cakes, a brand of nipple covers that has intrigued me since first making rounds on TikTok over a year ago.

After first becoming popular for its Grippy Cakes, adhesive-free nipple covers, the brand has more recently unveiled the heat wave-friendly Sticky Cakes, which have a tacky adhesive layer to offer more support (and peace of mind). Cakes’ nipple covers come in a few different sizes (“itty bitty” for AAA-A cups, “OG” for B-DD cups, and “+” for DDD cups and up), skin tones (Honey, Caramel, and Cocoa), and shapes (circles and triangles).

I’ve had mixed success with nipple covers in the past. While the objective is to create a smooth surface underneath tight and/or sheer clothing, some of them made my breast outline even more pronounced as a result of thicker material or uneven edges, defeating the point entirely. Others made an early exit (this happened during my wedding reception, and I didn’t realize until the after-party — oops!) and fell off.

So, I set out to find out if Cakes, with their $33 price point — which hovers just above many of its competitors — were the real deal. (Although they are 30% off right now, BTW.) From white tees to bikini tops (yes, bikini tops!) to backless dresses, I put Cakes Grippy Circles, Grippy Triangles, Sticky Circles, and Sticky Triangles, all in the “OG” size and Honey colorway, to the test. Ahead, my thoughts.

Grippy Cakes Circles, $33 $23.10

First up, I tried the Grippy Cakes Circles. The silicone was smooth and soft, with a contoured shape that was thickest in the center and gradually thinned out towards the edges. As with any nipple covers, I applied them to clean, dry skin. I probably could’ve sized down in the circles because they nearly covered my entire breast. This is not necessarily a good or bad thing, especially considering that nipples and breasts vary in size and shape, but something to be aware of if your breasts are on the smaller side of the brand’s range.

The brand recommends wearing this style under tight clothing to help the Cakes stay in place, but I wore mine under a loosely fitting white T-shirt, and they were not only undetectable as advertised but felt secure all day, even in summer heat. After wearing them for a full day, I gently removed them, rinsed them with warm water, and patted them dry. According to the brand, if you follow these instructions, Grippy Cakes are reusable since they use your body’s heat, not adhesive, to naturally cling onto the skin. (Buying fewer, better things? Here for it.)

The circle-shaped “style” was most similar to other nipple covers I’ve tried in the past, but I found that these held up better with sweat and seamlessly blended with my skin (none of those uneven-edge issues I’ve experienced in the past). I would definitely wear these again under a sheer blouse or a plain white tee.

Grippy Cakes Triangles, $33 $23.10

Later that week, I gave the Grippy Triangles, which have an elongated, pointed shape that offers coverage for trickier styles, a try; since they have a sleeker profile, they work for low-cut or V-neck styles that the Circles may have peeked out from. What’s more, Cakes says you can wear these with swimwear (and for working out, but I tend to need more significant support if I’m doing anything more intense than walking). To test this theory, I threw on a triangle bikini and hopped in the pool. I was honestly impressed that the covers stayed in place through swimming and then laying out in the sun; water and sweat didn’t affect the grippiness of the silicone whatsoever.

Would these make it through surfing in Montauk? Probably not. But a little dip and/or playing mermaids is more than fine for these. I probably wouldn’t wear them again under swimwear because I look for styles that already have light padding in them. However, I appreciate having the option for sweat-filled days, and would recommend these for brides who want to dance the night away without worrying about a wardrobe malfunction like mine or, worse, a nip slip.

Sticky Cakes Circles & Triangles, $33 $23.10

Lastly, I tried the new Sticky Cakes, which are nearly identical to their grippy counterparts in look and feel (they come in the same silicone material) but are coated in a thin layer of medical-grade adhesive. Sticky-front bras have been in my wardrobe arsenal for years now, providing light support and lift in backless, strapless designs. But I’m always on the hunt for something better, whether that’s in terms of comfort, performance, or both. (Cakes just released their version, called the Cleavage Bra, which I am eager to try.)

Sticky Cakes are a nice middle ground between going braless and the aforementioned sticky bras. The design has a small divot in the center (called a “nip nook”), so you don’t get adhesive anywhere near the delicate nipple area. When compared to Grippy Cakes, these felt more secure. The adhesive was tacky enough to stay in place (even in 90°F summer heat) but wasn’t so sticky that it hurt to remove it at the end of the day. Per the brand, the sticky versions can be worn at least 10 times with proper care and storage, which involves gently rinsing with warm water, air-drying them, and storing them in the included pouch. I would save this style for my backless summer dresses on the hottest days of the season or an outdoor summer music festival.

Final Thoughts

So, is Cakes worth the hype? I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t impressed. The grippy styles are great from a sustainability perspective. To me, the triangle shapes are a game-changer thanks to the way you can rotate them to accommodate even the trickiest neckline work. I also felt like these were the most seamless, invisible alternative to bras I’ve tried so far. Out of all the combinations I tried, the sticky triangles ended up being the winner in my book, since the shape was a universal fit for any tricky wardrobe situation, and I like having the adhesive as an insurance measure.

Bonus: The brand is dedicated to supporting women’s health via Cakes Cares, the brand’s philanthropic arm, which has donated over a million dollars to breast cancer research and support programs. (As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, I love this.)

Now that I’ve got a full wardrobe of Cakes at my disposal, I feel that my search for the perfect nipple cover has ended. From future wedding dance floors to music festivals and other sweaty, bra-unfriendly scenarios, I may never wear bras again — or at least for the summer.

Spain Isn’t The Only One Taking Home Gold This Week — Louis Vuitton Just Dropped The Ultimate Trophy Trunk

If last night’s electric football thriller proved anything, it’s that sports culture and high fashion are officially fused, and Spain isn’t the only one taking home gold this week.

Fresh off the post-match adrenaline, Louis Vuitton just unveiled its official bespoke Trophy Trunk and exclusive capsule collection for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Because if you’re carrying the world’s most coveted sporting prize across the Atlantic Ocean, a standard carry-on simply won’t cut it.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY – JULY 19: Carlos Alcaraz and Hoyeon present the Louis Vuitton trophy trunk containing the FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy before the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final match between Spain and Argentina at New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, 2026 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Handcrafted in the historic Asnières-sur-Seine workshops, the custom trunk is wrapped in LV’s signature Monogram canvas, featuring hand-painted gold panels that form a hard-to-miss “V” for both Victory and Vuitton, of course. Brass corner protectors and a plush beige leather lining dial up the luxury factor.

For those of us not personally lifting the FIFA trophy, the Maison is bringing the high-stakes aesthetic into our own homes. Louis Vuitton’s limited-edition lineup includes the Coffret 8 Montres, Cotteville 16 Montres, and iconic Malle Courrier Lozine 110. And for the ultimate personal touch, each can be customized with your own initials.

As game-day fashion evolves from a street-style trend into full-fledged luxury couture, this collaboration marks the ultimate intersection of elite athletic triumph and timeless French craftsmanship. Whether you’re a die-hard supporter celebrating Spain’s reign or just looking to elevate your travel style, one thing is clear: luxury sports aesthetic has officially entered its golden era.
