These Are The Best Grammys Looks Of All Time

Style-wise, the Grammys stand out from the rest of the award shows. Whereas Hollywood’s finest like to play it safe at the Oscars and the Golden Globes, choosing pretty gowns and the occasional suit, those who attend music’s biggest night of the year rarely follow suit, with grandiose entrances and outfit changes a common occurrence. That’s how we ended up with such a wide array of daring looks from Grammys past, including J.Lo’s iconic Versace jungle gown, Cardi B’s Mugler oyster masterpiece, and Rihanna’s bubblegum pink Giambattista Valli meme dress.

With the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards airing on Sunday sans the extravagant red carpet we’ve grown accustomed to over the years, we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane. Ahead of Sunday night’s festivities, join in as we count off our all-time best-dressed looks from the days when red carpets didn’t take place primarily on Instagram.

Billy Porter, 2020

Billy Porter's remote-controlled, rhinestone hat was enough to get him on this list. The rest of his teal-and-silver Baja East look was just icing on the cake. Photo: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic.

Taylor Swift, 2016

Normally a high-low, two-piece look wouldn't be our choice for a red carpet, but Taylor Swift's Versace look was equal parts glamorous and fresh.Photo: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic.

Rihanna, 2015

In our book, Rihanna can do no wrong. But while everything the singer-designer does is a win for us, this bubblegum pink Giambattista Valli gown is a step above the rest. Photo: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic.

Destiny's Child, 2001

Katie Holmes Paired A Prairie Dress With Sneakers For The Perfect Spring Look

On Wednesday, during one of the first truly warm days of the year, Katie Holmes was spotted on a coffee run in New York City, taking advantage of the rising temperatures. Though it was technically more light-jacket than no-jacket weather — the temperature tapped out at 54 degrees — Holmes ditched protocol, breaking out her best spring dress-sneaker combination to kick-start the season.

The Dawson’s Creek star chose a puff-sleeved, keyhole dress from Ulla Johnson and white Common Projects sneakers. On their own, both pieces have potential; together, they create the perfect springtime outfit. The addition of her corduroy crossbody didn’t hurt, either.

Holmes’ dress, called the Suki dress, is a product of the New York-based brand’s spring ‘21 collection. The tiered, crepe de chine frock features long, poofy sleeves; a midi hemline, and a patchwork pattern. While it’s currently available in all sizes, it will cost you a steep $795. That said, if you’re looking to splurge on something to base your seasonal wardrobe around, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better spring dress given that both puff-sleeve dresses and the cottagecore aesthetic continue to trend in fashion.

Clearly, after months of coat weather, Holmes, like many of us, is ready to embrace the warmer weather and its accompanying style alternatives. And if her past warm-weather looks are any indication, we’re in for a sartorial treat as the temperatures continue to rise.

Shop Holmes’ dress and sneakers, which are also still available, below.

5 Celebrity-Approved Ways To Style Baggy Jeans

Paris Street Style Stars Are Ditching Skinny Jeans, Too

Normally, Fashion Month street style in Paris is an amalgamation of the previous season’s most attention-grabbing pieces, with statement coats, dresses, shoes, and bags making up most of the looks spotted outside shows. This season, though, given how few designers showed in person due to the pandemic, street style wasn’t the scene it normally is. Instead, many show-goers wore jeans, the antithesis of pre-COVID street style.

Yes, there were still designer bags and shoes, but they weren’t paired with equally glamorous silhouettes. Rather, most were accompanied by classic denim pieces. More specifically, Parisiens sported straight- and wide-leg jeans to this season’s runway shows. Sorry, millennials, but there were no skinny jeans in sight.

Serving as their replacements were baggier fits, wider silhouettes, and styles more similar to the original blue jeans, Levi’s 501s, than the ultra-fitted pairs that reigned supreme in the '00s and 2010s.

With that, for anyone still struggling to transition from skinny to straight — or furthermore, wide-leg — jeans, let the slideshow ahead be your guide. Maybe you’ll find that non-skinny jeans aren’t so bad after all.

Colorful skinny jeans? Pass! Colorful baggy jeans, however, those we can rally behind.

I'm sorry, but crop tops benefit from straight-leg jeans. And that's a fact.
